I’ve been swamped with last minute class prep for the upcoming fall term so have not blogged much. But here are a few things I have been thinking about of late:
Regarding the NYC mosque. I have had mixed feelings about this. While I cannot quite put my finger on why, something about it does make me feel uncomfortable. But yet I am also quite uncomfortable with any curtailment of religious freedom. On a lighter note, I have been amused by the sudden interest of some liberals in the right to religious freedom – who knew they cared so much about the place of religion in the public square? Robert Royal has some interesting thoughts on the matter here.
An Iraq Bishop feels betrayed by the United States. We should not have gone into Iraq to begin with, and it is his view that we are leaving things worse than we found them. In particular his concern as a bishop is that Iraq has become an extremely dangerous place for Christians.
