An article on Stephen Colbert’s Catholicism, which is more serious than many of his viewers would prefer to think.

The LDS Church broke ground in Rome yesterday on their temple there. Story here. Images of the planned temple here. Actually not a bad design, though it is a bit ‘space-shippy’. LDS temple architecture seems to date quite quickly since the styles are often captive to their times. Building in the Eternal City, one wonders why they didn’t opt for something more timeless and in line with the classical style of architecture so common in Rome. Still, it is much better than the 1960s weirdness and the all too common mausoleum look.

About Kleiner

Associate Vice Provost and Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Utah State University. I teach across the curriculum, but am most interested in continental philosophy, ancient and medieval philosophy as well as Catholic thought, all of which might be summed up as an interest in the ressourcement tradition (returning in order to make progress). I also enjoy spending time thinking about liberal education and its ends.
