CHASS is once again celebrating the start of the year with the Light on a Hill ceremony. August 27th at the Old Main Hill Amphitheater, 7:30 for refreshments and 8:00 for the convocation. It is a nice thing and I encourage everyone to go. My alma mater did this at the beginning of each year, though we had the whole faculty process across campus in full regalia. This convocation is rather more casual.
I do take some umbrage at the ad (hat tip to a colleague for pointing this out to me).
Kleiner, if you don’t yet know you are a weirdo, we need to have a sit-down.
I thought the philosophers were the normal ones and everyone else was weird. I am standing by that – after all, isn’t it odd to go through life not wanting to talk about the nature of things?
